does a quilt block not suggest itself?

We've got a 40 foot drop so we've gotta do something soon.
It starts with decking then some posts then some railing. The base is in and we are ready for the fun part - the planking. I see something on the diagonal, perhaps asymetrical. A horizonal treatment does not do it for me. Wish I had that book with 550 quilt block designs handy.
